Clerico is the perfect fruity white wine punch for warm gatherings. It’s a refreshing mix of fresh bananas, apples, oranges, strawberries, and grapes, all soaked in sweetened white wine. The sugar helps to bring out the natural sweetness of the fruit, creating a drink that’s flavorful and light, but still packs a punch. It’s ideal for a summer party, brunch, or anytime you want a fruity, boozy drink that feels a little fancy. The best part? It’s even better if you make it ahead of time!

Ingredients

  • 2 Liter(s) White Wine
  • 3 Banana(s)
  • 1 Apple(s)
  • 1 Orange(s)
  • 6 Strawberries
  • .5 lb Grapes
  • .5 lb Sugar

Instructions

Prep the Fruit:

  • Peel the bananas, apple, and orange. Dice them all into small pieces, then slice the strawberries and halve the grapes.

Sweeten the Fruit:

  • Place all the fruit into a large bowl and sprinkle the 0.5 lb of sugar evenly over it.

Add the Wine:

  • Pour enough white wine over the fruit and sugar to cover everything. Give it a gentle stir to mix.

Chill:

  • Cover the bowl and place it in the fridge for at least 2 hours to let the flavors blend. The longer it sits, the better!

Serve:

  • When ready, stir the mixture and serve in glasses with a bit of the fruit in each one. You can add ice if you like it extra cold.

Notes

Clerico is a South American twist on sangria, typically made with white wine for a lighter, more refreshing take. It’s easy to customize—swap out the fruits for whatever you have on hand or prefer. If you want a bit more fizz, you can top off each glass with a splash of soda water or sparkling wine just before serving. For best results, let the punch chill for at least 2 hours, but if you have time, overnight is even better, as it allows the fruit to really soak up the wine’s flavors.
